80% of blindness in India is because of cataract and uncorrected refractive errors. Of the 37 million people across the globe who are blind, over 15 million are from India. What’s worse, 75% of these are cases of avoidable blindness, thanks to the country’s acute shortage of optometrists and donated eyes for the treatment of corneal blindness. The reality is India is the home for the largest blind population in the world.
NMBT has rightly made significant investment in developing high quality infrastructure with likeminded organizations to ensure that people from economically challenging background, largely rural and tribal belts of India have access to good quality eye care facility – where poor don’t have to pay. NMBT also continues to support cataract surgery costs, for poor and non-affording across the country, year by year.

With a focus on making available long term facility, that will continue to offer affordable health care for masses, NMBT has instituted health care infrastructure across India.
