Poverty lies at the root of many pressing social challenges in India. Despite economic progress, a significant portion of the population continues to struggle with basic needs, limited opportunities, and lack of access to essential services. The fragmentation of traditional joint families, growing urban-rural disparities, and a media-driven divide between the privileged and the marginalized further complicate the situation. Vulnerable groups — including the elderly, destitute individuals, daily wage earners, and under-resourced communities — often remain excluded from the so-called mainstream society.
At the Naraindas Morbai Budhrani Trust (NMBT), Community Development is more than just outreach; it is a sustained effort to restore dignity, empower individuals, and improve the quality of life for those on the margins. This is achieved through a multi-faceted approach involving direct implementation of programs as well as collaboration and support to grassroots organizations working in remote and underserved areas.
Our Approach
NMBT’s Community Development work is carried out through a dual strategy:
- Direct Implementation of targeted projects in areas where we can make an immediate impact
- Partnerships and Support to established organizations that are embedded in the community and have a proven track record of service
This combined approach ensures flexibility, responsiveness, and sustainable impact — allowing us to reach a broader population and address diverse needs with compassion and accountability.
Destitute Support
We believe that every human being deserves dignity, shelter, food, and care — especially those who have been abandoned, orphaned, or are living without a support system. Our destitute support initiatives focus on:
- Providing financial and material aid to shelters.
- Supporting organizations that care for the mentally ill, homeless, and abandoned individuals
- Distributing essential supplies like clothing, blankets, hygiene kits, and food grains
- Ensuring access to compassionate care for individuals who are often neglected by society
Infrastructure projects, solar energy support, and vocational training further contribute to sustainable cities, clean energy, and decent work. By empowering vulnerable populations and collaborating with grassroots organizations, NMBT plays a significant role in advancing inclusive and sustainable development in India.

Livelihood Support & Empowerment
Breaking the cycle of poverty requires more than charity — it demands empowerment and opportunity. Through our livelihood support programs, we aim to equip individuals and families with the skills, tools, and resources they need to build sustainable futures. Our interventions include:
- Funding vocational training programs and skill development centers
- We provide seed funding for PwDs which helps to empower them to become independent in life by setting up small business pursuits.

Infrastructure Support
Access to basic infrastructure is a fundamental driver of development. NMBT extends support to bridge critical gaps in public infrastructure, especially in rural and underserved regions. This includes:
- Building and renovating community spaces, roads, hospitals, toilets, etc
- Working with partner organizations in improving their service delivery through better facilities
- Equipment support is also offered to needful beneficiaries through various organisations.
We have contributed to infrastructure development, such as the construction of eye hospitals by Akhand Jyoti and Sankara Eye Foundation, as well as road construction by the Shraddha RehabilitationFoundation. Further, we have supported Missionaries of Charity through solar panel installation and contributed to the Premdaan center with painting work. These initiatives reflect our commitment to improving healthcare, infrastructure, and sustainable energy in underserved communities

Medical Support
Healthcare remains inaccessible and unaffordable for many. Through our medical support initiatives, we aim to reduce suffering and improve health outcomes for vulnerable populations by:
- Working with partner organizations to fund rural health camps, mobile medical vans, and charitable clinics
- Donating life-saving medicines, surgical supplies, and treatments for eye and heart surgeries
We provide financial support to Shraddha Rehabilitation Foundation, which focuses on providing comprehensive mental health care and rehabilitation services to individuals, especially in rural and marginalized communities. Shraddha works towards promoting mental well-being and helping individuals regain their dignity through counseling, therapy, and various rehabilitative services.

Food Support
Our trust is dedicated to making a tangible impact on communities in need, supporting organizations that provide essential services such as food, shelter, and education. By contributing to their cause, we are helping mitigate hunger and encourage school attendance, nurturing a brighter future for young minds.
One of our key partnership is with the Akshaya Patra Foundation, whose extensive meal programs ensure that thousands of children across India receive nutritious food daily. We are also honoured to support Parivaar, an organization providing a safe and nurturing environment for underprivileged children in Madhya Pradesh. We have adopted 18 kutirs in Betul district of Parivaar organisation.
For addressing hunger and undernutrition in underprivileged children from Palghar district, we collabtrate with Annamrita Foundation by providing free mid-day meals to children, and food relief to the underprivileged, frontline workers, and elderly individuals. We provide this service in 9 schools reaching 2077 Students.
Additionally, our partnership with Aastha Gram in Khargone, Madhya Pradesh, enables us to contribute to a range of impactful programs—from disability care and elder support to environmental initiatives. Aastha Gram provides a home, education, and a supportive community for disabled children and destitute elderly individuals.

Ration kit and Marriage kit support
We also provide support to Marriage kit support program and Ration support program.

The community development initiatives of Naraindas Morbai Budhrani Trust (NMBT) align closely with several UN Sustainable Development Goals, especially those focused on poverty alleviation, hunger eradication, quality education, good health, and economic empowerment.
